Randy K. Humphrey, 76, passed away peacefully at his home on March 1, 2025. Randy was born on March 16, 1948, in Shawnee, Oklahoma, to Fred and Cleta Joy (Fox) Humphrey. He attended elementary school at Westboro, graduating 8th grade in 1961 from the newly finished South Rock Creek School (after Westboro and Rock Creek consolidated). He graduated from Tecumseh High School in 1965, then from East Central State College in 1970. After college he began teaching at Tecumseh High School. He coached, taught, and drove a bus during his forty-year career.
He served in the Army Reserves from 1968 to 1974.
Randy married Cindy Hillerman on June 14, 1974, in Shawnee, Oklahoma.
He enjoyed all sports, especially football. Throughout his life, he liked anything to do with livestock; as a youth showing cattle and later as an adult showing cutting horses. His love for cutting horses was passed on to him from his dad's career in the cutting horse industry. He spent many hours keeping his horses "tuned" and ready for Jason, Cindy and his boys to insure they were ready to compete. Randy spent many years working the cow pens at cuttings, and he enjoyed his time spent with his grandchildren.
For many years he enjoyed almost daily visits with his "coffee shop buddies" where a lot of issues were discussed and solved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws, Cecil and Nelda Hillerman; grandparents, Orville "Slick" and Violet Humphrey and Frank and Alta Fox; aunts and uncles, Bob and Trelma O'Neal and Jack and Mary Fox; cousin, Jim O'Neal; and special nephew, Jason Humphrey.
He survived by his wife, Cindy; sons, Cody (Ashley) of San Diego, CA, and Kirby (Bethany) of Seminole, OK; grandchildren: Cooper Lawrence Washburn (who dubbed him Hoppe), Audie Olivia, Annie Jay, and Clancy K. Humphrey; brother and sister-in-law, Tony and Debbie Humphrey; brother-in-law and wife, Greg and Della Hillerman; cousin, Sandra and Ronnie Turner; nephew, Carson Humphrey; nieces, Allison Humphrey, Misty Ledbetter and Christy Washburn; great nieces, Carly and Josie Humphrey; and other nieces, nephews and friends.
The family would like to thank Heartland Hospice for their kind and compassionate care over the past few months. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to the Tecumseh Alumni Scholarship Fund or a charity of your choice.
A "Celebration of Life" will be held on Saturday, March 15, 2025, 11:00 a.m., at the Humphrey family home, 20640 Bethel Rd., Tecumseh, Oklahoma 74873.
