James Humes
Aug. 26, 1945 ~ August 1, 2014

ENID, OK - Memorial service for James "Jim" Humes, 68-year-old Enid resident, will be 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2014, in Henninger-Hinson Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Ted Kuschel will officiate. A private family burial will be at a later date.

Jim was born Aug. 26, 1945, in Columbus, Miss., to Edwin and Blanch (Davis) Humes and died Friday, August 1, 2014, in Integris Bass Health Baptist Health Center.

He attended schools in Glen Elder, Kan., and Perry, Okla., and graduated from Enid High School with the class of 1963. He began working at Vance Air Force Base as a surveyor for 10 years. He then worked at Farmland as a nitrogen plant supervisor for 15 years, and he then returned to Northrop at the base as a jet engine mechanic, retiring in 1989.

On April 29, 1987, he married Joan E. Williams in Enid, where the couple made their home.

He attended Emmanuel Baptist Church. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved fishing, camping and hunting.

He is survived by his wife Joan, of the home; three children, James Brian Humes and wife Kathrine of Dallas, Brandi Schafer and husband Todd, of Knob Noster, Mo., and Lisa Frisbee and husband Charles, of Lacey, Okla.; eight grandchildren, Jared, Amber, J.T., Stephanie, Samantha, Alexandra, Lauren and Michael; and one great-grandson, Noah.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one niece, Martha.

Memorials may be made through Henninger-Hinson to American Cancer Society.
