Carol Elizabeth (Johnson) Hulings, formerly of Ochelata, was born December 15, 1946, to Victor C. and Edna O. Johnson in Tulsa, Oklahoma. She joined her Risen Savior on Saturday, September 24, 2016.
Visitation with the family will be at the home, 3044 South Braden Avenue, Tulsa, from 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM, Friday, September 30th.
The memorial service will be at Our Savior Lutheran Church, 146 South Sheridan, Tulsa, at 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 1st.
Carol met Mike Hulings on a blind date on May 26, 1969, and they married ten months later on March 28, 1970. They have two children: Jason (Melissa) Hulings and Coree Webb (Kent Schaub).
Carol graduated from Tulsa Will Rogers High School (1965) and attended Tulsa University before beginning her professional career as a bookkeeper. Her employment included Tulsa Chamber of Commerce, White Shield Oil & Gas, Society of Exploration Geophysicists, Thor Energy, Lucas Gas, and Utility Management.
She joined the Lutheran Church when she and Mike married and has been involved in a variety of servant activities: multiple missionary trips, child care, pre-school, day care, Sew & Sow, Lutheran Women's Missionary League, and feeding the homeless. She was also a fervent competitor in bunko and dominoes, although unsuccessful at Monopoly against her grandson, Thomas. Other notable aspects of Carol are: loved gardening, disliked elevators, loved travel, disliked flying, and loved cooking (Mike cleaned). She loved her church family, her immediate family, and most intensely her grandchildren: Kylie, Thomas, Marcus, Nolan, as well as her Lord.
Carol was predeceased by her parents and two brothers, Michael Lee and "Buster".
In addition to her immediate family, Carol is survived by her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Mark and Lois Hulings , of Oklahoma City, nephew Chris (Erica) Hulings, of Denver, nephew Chad Hulings, of Dallas, nephew Evan Hulings, of Denver, her cousin, Lynn Case, of Stillwater and niece, Kristin Case, of Tulsa, plus a host of beloved extended family members.
The family requests those attending the memorial service wear purple, if possible.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Carol's name may be made to Ablaze Christian Academy, 146 South Sheridan Road, Tulsa, OK 74112.
