Susan Beatrice (Ferguson) Hughes Susan Beatrice (Ferguson) Hughes
Feb. 12, 1958 ~ July 16, 2015

Susan Beatrice Hughes is rejoicing with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, as of July 16, 2015, at the age of 57.

Susan entered this world on Feb. 12, 1958, at Bass Hospital in Enid, Okla., as the youngest of five children, to John and Bea Ferguson.

Susan was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Dolores.

Susan is survived by her husband of 12 years, Ron Hughes; sister, Mollie Smith; and brothers, John and Roger Ferguson. Susan had four children, Damon Boucher, Danica Alexander, Darcy Duran and Charlotte Owens; and five grandchildren, Cassidy, Sydney, Alye, Axel and Olivia.

Viewing will be 1-7 p.m. today, Sunday, July 19, 2015, at Cooper Funeral Home, 210 West Walnut, Tecumseh, Okla. Family and loved ones are invited to attend a celebration of Susans life at Evangelistic Center Church, 18502 U.S. Hwy 177, Shawnee, Okla., at 1 p.m. Monday, July 20, 2015. To honor Susan, her wishes would be for donations to be made to Aglow International.

Susan was a graduate of Enid High School and Phillips University with a bachelors degree in business.

Susan met her husband Ron when he came to her door as a siding salesman; it was love at first sight! They soon discovered they both went to St. Paul's Lutheran School in Enid, Okla., when she was in kindergarten and he was in first grade.

Ron loved Susan so much that he moved to Enid 7 months before they were married on May 24, 2003, at University Place Christian Church in Enid.

Ron and Susan made a home in Oklahoma City before moving to Shawnee and spending many wonderful years together at their lake home. Susan said, "Other women want jewels, but when I look out at the lake, I see a thousand sparkling jewels outside my door." Susan will be remembered as a spiritual rock for her family, having accomplished so much in this life.

Susan had a strong work ethic as demonstrated in her many careers, including her parent's business, Bea's Bakery, VFW, Sears, Jensen's Music Store, Phillips University Art Department, Cox Cable, Vance AFB as civilian flight dispatcher, inventory scanner for Information Resources, merchandiser for Gibson Greetings, and U.S. Federal Census.

Susan's volunteer ministries included Kairos Prison Ministry as group leader for Mable Basset Women's Prison, board member for Shawnee Aglow and the Aglow Regional Board, and as a group leader for Celebrate Recovery.

Susan was a single mom who worked three jobs simultaneously to raise four children.

Susan recently embarked on a trip of a lifetime with her husband Ron to Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, where she smiled the entire time. She is now celebrating in Heaven.
