Ruth Mae Snow Hughes, 97, loving and beloved mother, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 30, 2017 at her home in Enid, Oklahoma.

Ruth was born August 28, 1919 in Electra, Texas, the daughter of William Chester and Lillie Mae White Snow. She was a graduate of Childress High School, Childress, Texas. During World War II, she was employed at the Childress Army Airfield and after three and a half years she transferred to the Enid Army Airfield, now Vance Air Force Base, from which she retired in 1980.

Throughout her life, Ruth carried the strength, determination and resolve to 'stay the course' as handed down, generation to generation, from her Mayflower ancestors. Coming from a humble upbringing during the Great Depression, she was family oriented, selfless and generous to her family and others. Upon her retirement, she became an active member of NARFE and Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority. With her memberships, she participated in their social and volunteer events while also spending her time volunteering at the Enid Health Center.

Ruth is survived by two of her children, Patsy of the home, and Donnie Hughes and his wife, Teresa Hughes of Midwest City, OK; six grandchildren, Heather Hughes Alanis and her husband Paul Alanis of Arlington, TX, Beth Hughes Christie and her husband David Christie of Fort Worth, TX, Keystone Hughes and his wife Jacqueline Hughes of Edmond, OK, Cierra Hughes of Midland, TX, Shianne Hughes of Midwest City, OK, and Tammie Taylor. Other survivors include Roxanne Hughes, Fort Worth, TX, mother of Heather and Beth, and Stevie Hughes of Greenville, TN, wife of Dwain Hughes, numerous great and great-great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and eldest son, Dwain, her brother, Jack Snow and her sister, Ruby Goodgame.

A Celebration of Life for Ruth M Hughes, will be held Friday, July 7, 2017, 2:00 PM at the Greenwood Cemetery in Fort Worth, Texas.
