Donald Hughes
July 3, 1931 ~ July 14, 2017

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Don Hughes, 86, will be 10:00 AM, Friday, July 21, 2017, at Anderson-Burris Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Hall officiating. Cremation arrangements and services are by Anderson-Burris Funeral Home & Crematory. 

Don was born to William A. and Fannie May (Campbell) Hughes on July 3, 1931, in Slick, Oklahoma, and passed away on Friday, July 14, 2017, in Enid. 

Don graduated from Burbank High School. On July 15, 1951, he married RoAnn Maxwell, in Ulysses, Kansas, and they lived in Aztec, New Mexico. He worked as a driller in the oil field, and in 1974 they moved to Enid. Don was a member of the Elks, and was of Creek Ancestry. 

Don is survived by his children Jane and Danny Thornton, Jenny and Guy Root, and Donald and Sharon Hughes all of Enid; 3 grandchildren, Jennifer Thornton, Bryce Thornton, and Jamie Hughes; 2 great grandchildren, Brett and Cooper Thornton; 2 brothers Bob, and Jim; and 2 sisters Judy McKee, and Betty Jackson . 

He was preceded in death by his wife RoAnn, 3 brothers, and his son Lance. 

Memorials may be made through the Anderson-Burris to Valir Hospice.
