Teressa Mae Huff-Garrett

Teressa Mae Huff-Garrett
October 18, 1963 ~ March 9, 2020

Teressa Mae Huff-Garrett, 56, of Calera, Oklahoma, passed away peacefully on March 9, 2020. Born October 18, 1963 in Enid, OK, she was the daughter of Rose and HW Glover. Her husband, Billy Garrett, preceded her in death.

Teressa's endeavor to help others was endless. Her selfless journey began while obtaining her master's degree in Psychology through Baylor and Oklahoma State Universities, which led her to provide support for others throughout her life. She did this all while raising her two oldest children, Jason and Brandy. She later went on to serve as a Hospital Corpsman in the Navy Reserves with an Honorable Discharge in 2006. She became a Licensed Professional Counselor, working for Sequoyah Enterprises and Meadowlake in Enid, OK, helping provide needs for children and adolescents. From there she went on to serve civilian and military personnel in Iraq, while working for Haliburton, as a Mental Health Specialist.

She volunteered with the Red Cross in New York City after 9/11 and during hurricane relief in Louisiana. She also served as the president of the Oklahoma Counseling Association and began her own business, Counseling and Consulting, LLC. Also, to her credit, she wrote Devotions for Those with Anxiety Disorders, Including PTSD. She was a very loving and altruistic woman, tirelessly giving herself to others in any capacity necessary.

She is survived by her mother and step-father, Rose and HW Glover of Mead; her son Jason Smith (Christina) of Bokchito; her daughters Brandy Peters (Glenn) of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, and Raylei Garrett of Calera; her sister Krystal Falls (Jeremiah) of Calera; her 8 grandchildren, as well as many other extended family members and friends.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandparents, Virginia and Henry Gonsalves, and her niece, Taylor Falls.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, March 13, 2020, at Dannel Funeral Home, 302 South Walnut, Sherman, TX. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Wounded Warrior Project.
