Lois Jane (Morton) Hudgins
January 15, 1937 ~ June 15, 2016

Lois Jane Morton Hudgins left her earthly home for her heavenly home on Wednesday, June 15, 2016. She was a loving wife, mom and memaw. Lois Jane was born January 15, 1937 to Henry Franklin "Frank" Morton and Minnie Ethel (Matthews) Morton on the family farm in Gore, Oklahoma. She was the youngest of twelve children.

She graduated from Gore High School in 1954 and from OSU in 1958 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Home Economics. She started her career as an assistant home demonstration agent at Pauls Valley before moving to Northeast Oklahoma.

She was active in 4-H Club and was an active volunteer of the Stilwell Church of Christ Youth Group. She met and married J.D. Hudgins in June of 1962 in Stilwell. She and J.D. owned Stilwell Flower Shop for 3 years.

She received her teaching certificate and Masters in teaching at NSU. She taught 3rd grade at Peavine School for 23 years leaving a positive and loving impression on her many students. After her retirement she enjoyed the Adair County Retired Teachers Association and her active participation in the Stilwell Church of Christ.

She also enjoyed ceramic classes at Stilwell Senior Citizens Center. She loved to travel, read, cook, sew and do crossword puzzles unless it had a current famous actor's name. She was a student of the Bible and a God fearing woman. She loved and trusted the Lord with all her heart and soul and followed His teaching in all aspects of her life. She was a living example to her children and grandchildren always reflecting her love of her Lord.

She is survived by her husband, J.D. of the home; daughter, Lynda Baker and husband, J.B. of Fredericksburg, TX; one son, Jeff Hudgins and wife, Julie, of Stilwell, OK;  daughter, Jan Reed and husband, Casey of Sweetwater, OK; grandchildren, Jack, John, Jayden, Justin, Laura and Colton; brothers, Dan Morton and wife, Johnnye, of Stillwater, Don Morton and wife, Velma, of Gore and James Morton and wife, Margie, of Yukon and 35 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Minnie Morton, two sisters, Iva and Geneva, six brothers, Funston, Paul Joseph, Leland, Aaron, Reuben and Ralph.

Memorial services were held 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2016 at Hart Memorial Chapel with Joe Smith officiating. Final arrangements were entrusted to Hart Funeral Home of Stilwell.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations be sent to: Oklahoma State University, Center for Health Sciences Foundation, Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology, 1111 W. 17th St, Tulsa, OK 74101.
