Ruthie Michelle (Mills) Huddler

Ruthie Michelle (Mills) Huddler
September 10, 1964 ~ November 25, 2018

Ruthie Michelle Huddler, 54, of Deerhead, Kansas, passed away Sunday, November 25, 2018, at Wesley Medical Center, Wichita, Kansas. She was born September 10, 1964, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas, the daughter of Mike Gentry Mills and Ruthie Ann (McLemore) Bell. She married Mark Huddler on October 20, 1990.

After graduating Medicine Lodge High School in 1983, she attended cosmetology school and after several years, moved to Pueblo, Colorado, where she met her husband. After she and Mark married they returned to Deerhead to live and manage their ranch. Michelle worked in Medicine Lodge for Householter Accounting for 18 years, filling many rolls. She retired in 2012 due to health issues and to focus on managing the ranch. Her many duties included, oilfield traffic control and keeping the post office in check.

Michelle loved animals from an early age. She had many dogs, cats, a raccoon, and even a prairie dog over the years. It seemed that animals in need found their way to her, knowing she would take care of them. Before retiring, her faithful companion, Buddy, would accompany her to work daily, guarding the office and greeting clients. Her beloved Buddy and Clyde will miss her dearly.

Michelle was a straight shooter all the way, knew what she believed and wasn't afraid to share her opinion. She was very generous and was a pillar of strength for her family and friends.

Surviving are her husband, Mark; mother, Ruthie Bell; sister, Jamie (Jason) Bell; brother, Russell (Lacey) Bell; grandmother, Ruth McLemore; step-mother, Gwen Mills; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and a wealth of friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Mike Mills and step-father, Lawrence Bell.

Cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 30, 2018, at First Christian Church in Medicine Lodge with Pastor Tom Walters presiding. Inurnment will be at a later date at Canyon Road Ranch Deerhead.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Quarters for Canines in care of Larrison Funeral Home, 120 E. Lincoln, Medicine Lodge, KS 67104.
