Janice Marie "Jan" (Bohannon) Huber

Janice Marie "Jan" (Bohannon) Huber
January 30, 1947 ~ January 16, 2025

Janice Marie Huber was born on January 30, 1947, in Harrison, Arkansas, to Alva James and Marcelle Marion (Spiers) Bohannon. She departed this life on Thursday, January 16, 2025, at her home in Locust Grove, Oklahoma, at the age of 77.

Janice spent her formative years in the Tulsa area and attended East Central High School. On February 25, 1968, at 10 minutes to 5:00 PM, she married Stonie David Huber in Bartlesville, Oklahoma. Their union was not without its humorous beginnings: Stonie, borrowing a shirt from his future father-in-law, lost his job that day to get married, and Janice had to pay for the marriage license. Despite the rocky start, their love endured for 56 years.

Janice was never one to shy away from hard work. Over the years, she held various roles, including working at Willard’s Day & Night Store, cleaning newly constructed homes, and driving to pick up cars purchased for Family Ford in Pryor. She also served as a CNA, providing private care for patients in their homes. Above all, she was a devoted homemaker, lovingly earning the nickname “drill sergeant” from her boys. Stonie knew better than to cross her—she was a force to be reckoned with!

Janice’s hobbies reflected her adventurous spirit and zest for life. She enjoyed riding bikes, hunting rabbits, squirrel, some quail, and fishing. She was also known as the “queen of thrift stores,” always on the hunt for treasures. Janice loved shopping, going to AMC movies with the girls, and indulging in Asian cuisine and Rib Crib ribs.

Janice will be remembered for her boundless kindness and deep care for others. Fiercely protective of her family, especially her beloved younger sister Reba, she always put others before herself with selfless devotion. Janice cherished holidays and special occasions spent with her family, finding immense joy in the company of her great and great-great nieces and nephews. Her unwavering love and unconditional support touched the lives of everyone who knew her, leaving behind a legacy of compassion and devotion. Her loving and nurturing nature extended beyond her immediate family. She helped raise her younger siblings and earned the cherished title of “Best Aunt Nanny ever.” She had a patient heart and a deep love for animals. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

Janice is survived by her husband: Stonie Huber of the home; her son: Stonie Dean Huber and his wife Connie, of Locust Grove, Oklahoma; her mother: Marcelle Spiers of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; and her grandson: Brandon Clark of Pryor, Oklahoma. She is also survived by her siblings: Jerry Bohannon and wife Teri of Coweta, Oklahoma, Reba Hurt and husband Clifford of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, and Diane Butler and husband David of Marshall, Arkansas; 5 nephews: Jerry Bohannon, Jr. of Coweta, Oklahoma, Jason Hurt and Chris Hurt, both of Locust Grove, Oklahoma, Brent Hurt and wife Elisha of Garland, Texas, and Greg McKinney and wife Chanda of Pryor, Oklahoma; and her niece: Deana Mullen, and husband Steve of Peggs, Oklahoma; Sister-in-law: Dusty McKinney and husband Terry of Peggs, Oklahoma; Numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Janice was preceded in death by: her father: Alva Bohannon; her stepfather: Paul J. Spiers; her son: Charles “Chuck” David Huber; 1 grandson: Christopher Clark; 1 brother: Roy Bohannon; 1 half-sister: Debbie Elliott; and her nieces: Robin Dawson and Jennifer Montemira, along with her nephew: Gary Bohannon; 1 sister-in-law: Starr Huber-Loudermilk; and 1 brother-in-law: Rocky Huber.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Thursday, January 30, at the First Baptist Church in Locust Grove. Reverend Blake Wallace and Lorne Beck will officiate. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to Locust Grove Funeral Home.
