John George Hronopulos

John George Hronopulos
November 25, 1931 ~ November 30, 2022

John George Hronopulos was born November 25, 1931, in Enid, Oklahoma, to George and Helen (Kanellakos) Hronopulos. He died November 30, 2022, at age 91, in Edmond, Oklahoma.

John graduated from Enid High School at age 16 in 1948, lettering 3 years in basketball. He earned a business degree from Phillips University, attending on a basketball scholarship.

He owned Enid Restaurant Supply in downtown Enid (with his brother Pete until 1983) until his retirement and the store closing in 2010.

John had a long and loving relationship with his high school sweetheart, Betty Jean Edwards. They were married 72 years and raised four daughters.

John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Susan Mitchell, brother Peter Hronopulos, and sisters Sodie Swinehart (twin), Audie Pitsiri, Effie Outhier, Martha Johnson and Grace Davis.

He is survived by his wife and daughters Karen (David) Baker of Midland, Texas, Diane (Richard) Hutchins of Oklahoma City, Lou Ann (Toby) Thomas of Edmond; son-in-law John Mitchell; and grandchildren Joey (Linzy) Farrant, JJ (Autumn) Hurd, Jessica Hurd, Grant (Vanessa) Hutchins, Kyle Hutchins, Jon Hutchins, Nicholas (Jennifer) Thomas, and Benjamin (Madison) Thomas. He had six great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild on the way.

The family requests memorial donations be made to the Oklahoma Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. A private family celebration of life will be held at a future date.
