Paul Ray Howerton, of Pauls Valley, was born July 15, 1939 in Stratford, Oklahoma to Nathan Wesley Howerton and Volley Mae (Coffey) Howerton. He passed away January 28, 2013 in Pauls Valley, Oklahoma at the age of 73 years.
On September 11, 1961, Paul began a tour of duty serving in Company ‘B’ 1st Battalion 36th Infantry. He received an Honorable Discharge on September 1, 1964 and was a Veteran of VietNam.
Paul was married to Barbara Montgomery in Pauls Valley in 1964 by Sam Goodwin. He was the owner and operator of P&R Radiator. Paul had lived in Pauls Valley most of his life.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Tommy, Bill, Chick and an infant brother, Bobby.
Surviving family include his wife of 48 years, Barbara of the home; 2 children, Butch Howerton of Pauls Valley; and Tina and Rodney Snelgrooes of Spring, Texas; a sister, Tujuana and J. O. Brantley, of Durant; 6 grandchildren, Josh Dial, Courtney Dial, Zakary Snelgrooes, Lea Snelgrooes, Chris Loveless and Justin Loveless; 4 great grandchildren, Kyler, Maddie, Elijah and Mary; 3 loving best friends, Noah, Sadie and Pedro; as well as a host of nieces, nephews and, other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services will be held Thursday, January 31, 2013 at 2:00 pm at Stufflebean-Coffey Chapel of Remembrance officiated by Bro. Ron Jarman.
Services for cremation are under the direction of Stufflebean-Coffey Funeral Home.
