Nowata - Marris Danny Howell, 79, of Nowata, OK died early Thursday morning, May 20, 2021 at Legacy Living at Arlington, TX.
Danny was born October 12, 1941 at Nowata to Marris B. Howell and Dorothy M. (Reeves) Howell. He grew up in Nowata, graduating from Nowata High School, Class of 1960. Danny also studied at Coffeyville (KS) Junior College. He married Judith Ann Cannon, May 17, 1963 at Nowata. The couple made their home in Nowata until Danny began his stay at Legacy Living in 2016, due to health reasons. He began his 35-year career with Phillips Petroleum Company in 1963 and retired from his position of Research Technician in 1998.
Danny was the consummate outdoorsman, learning and loving to hunt and fish at an early age. His passion for the two sports took he and Judy many places. Danny was active as a Little League coach to his son, Chris and active in forming the Nowata BASS Club. He enjoyed planning and hosting his Ironmen class reunions over the years. Danny was known for building fishing rods and his reloading expertise and considered by many as a "stock market guru".
Survivors include his wife, Judy of the home in Nowata; one son, Chris and his wife, April of Arlington; two brothers, Clay Howell of Houston, TX and Tim Howell and his wife, Sherrie of Bartlesville, OK; a sister, Sharron Harper of Talala, OK and one granddaughter, Madison Howell of Arlington. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marris and Dorothy.
Funeral services will be held 11am, Friday, May 28, 2021 at Benjamin Funeral Chapel with Brother Gerald Huntington officiating. Services and cremation are under the direction of Benjamin Funeral Service and Texas arrangements by Don Sickels and the Wade Funeral Home & Crematory of Arlington. Danny's ashes will be laid to rest on his favorite hunting grounds. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 27 6-8pm and the family will receive friends at that time.
