Arthur Melton Howell, age 89 and resident of Ramona, passed away on Wednesday, February 7, 2018.
Arthur Melton Howell was born on December 6, 1928 in Sperry, Oklahoma. He was the son of Earl and Gladys Howell. He was raised in Ramona, Oklahoma by his maternal grandparents, Ebin and Gertrude Berry. He received his education in the Ramona school system.
On October 7, 1949, Arthur married the love of his life, Janice Minor, at the United Methodist Church in Ochelata, Oklahoma. Arthur and Janice made their home and raised their three children in the Ramona area. They were married 68 years prior to Arthur's death.
Arthur was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ramona. He worked in the oil fields starting out with his grandpa when he was just 15 years old. He was always a hard worker. He retired in 2009. He enjoyed reading and watching western movies on television.
He is survived by his wife, Janice of the family home in Ramona; his two daughters, Joy V. Holliday of Ramona and Jennifer G. Mason and her husband, Steve, also of Ramona; and one grandchild, Delaney Holliday of Jenks, Oklahoma.
Arthur was preceded in death by his parents and his maternal grandparents; his son, Gregory L. Howell; grandson, Jason L. Holliday; son-in-law, Ray "Doc" Holliday; and an infant son and daughter.
Memorials in Arthur's memory may be sent to American Cancer Society, 4110 S. 100th E. Ave., Tulsa, OK 74146. Come and go visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:00-7:00 PM and Sunday from 1:00-7:00 PM with the family present between 5:00-7:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.
Services for Arthur will be held on Monday, February 12, at 1:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Chapel. Mr. Holly Ward will be the officiant. Arrangements are under the direction of the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home. Online condolences can be left at www.honoringmemories.com.
