A Memorial service for Dan Howard, age 90, of Chickasha, will be held at 4:30 pm. May 1, 2008 at Bible Baptist Church. The service is to celebrate the past 21 years of Dan's life.
Dan Howard was born March 14,1918 and went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 26, 2008 in Chickasha. He was reared in the Cofelt, Ninnekah, Hawkins, and Alex communities; graduating from Alex High School in 1937. He traveled to several states seeking employment after graduation finally landing in California working as a welder on the All-American Canal. He was drafted into the Army in 1940 and was medically discharged in early 1941. Dan went to work for KELCO Corporation in San Diego, Ca. in 1941 and remained there until his retirement in 1983. He was very proud of his 42 years of service at KELCO.
Dan married Virginia Smith on December 5,1986 in Chickasha. Dan and Virginia met in High School and had been friends for over fifty years when they were united in marriage. During their twenty years together they gardened and traveled extensively. They were wonderful life companions. Virginia preceded him in death on December 30, 2006. He was also preceded in death by a great-grandson, Tyier Lane Johnson on April 12, 2006.
