Larry Howard, 63, longtime Southlake, TX resident, passed away Monday, August 19, 2013, at the Mercy Hospital in OKC.
Larry Gene Howard was born May 24, 1950 in Oklahoma City, the older of 2 children born to Rueben Charles Howard and Veletia Mae (Richardson) Howard. He was raised in Oklahoma City attended Oklahoma City Schools, graduating from Northwest Classen High School in 1968. He then attended Central State University in Edmond where he received a Bachelor’s of Business Degree.
Larry met a young lady named Diana Lynn Dodenhoff . They fell in love and were married on December 8, 1978 in Arlington, TX. They made their home in Southlake, TX, where together they raised their daughter, Ashley.
Larry worked in Commercial Property Development for many years. He began working at Homart in Atlanta, GA and later for General Growth Properties.
Larry was a free spirit and enjoyed life to the fullest. It was said that he was an “adrenaline junky”. He liked fast cars and motorcycles and watching NASCAR. He was an avid OU football fan, rooted for the New York Yankees and never missed an opportunity to play golf.
Larry cherished his family. He was a wonderful husband and father, brother and a good friend. For the last 8 years, Larry has lived in Oklahoma City where he received extended medical care after complications from a brain injury. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him!
He was preceded in death by: His parents, Rueben and Veletia Howard and Mother-in-law, Carolyn Dodenhoff.
Larry is survived by: His wife, Lynn of Keller, TX; His daughter, Ashley Howard of Dallas, TX; His sister, Debra K. Randolph and husband Boyce of Edmond, OK, and a host of other family and good friends.
Memorial Services are scheduled for 1:00 P.M. Friday, August 23, 2013, at the Crossings Community Church, 14600 N. Portland AVE, OKC, OK, 74134.
