David Leslie Howard

David Leslie Howard
July 18, 1950 ~ April 8, 2022

David Leslie Howard was born to Roscoe Howard and Ruby Bolen Howard in Stroud, Oklahoma on July 18, 1950. He entered into rest surrounded by loved ones on April 8, 2022 at his home in Stroud.

David graduated from Davenport High School in 1969. Following high school David went on to have a lifelong career in the oil and gas industry. He worked for multiple companies including offshore for Waukesha-Pierce, Halliburton, TransOk, and several others before starting his own company Howco Oil & Gas. Throughout his life David engaged in a variety of activities and hobbies. In his younger years he participated in team-roping. He could often be found farming, doing yard work, fishing, being on the lake or golfing. He also enjoyed grilling and smoking bbq for family dinners.

David has been an active member of Stroud First Baptist Church for 30 years. Over the years he has served as a Sunday school teacher for both youth and adults, Awanas Director, camp cook and counselor, and as an offering usher. He was also a member of the Stroud Municipal golf course for many years.

David is preceded in death by his parents Roscoe Howard and Ruby Naylor; the mother of his two oldest daughters, Janet Flynt; brothers Jasper Clinton, Roscoe Howard, Tommy Wayne Howard, Cecil Howard, Billy Howard, Russel Howard, and Larry Jo Howard. He is survived by his wife of 33 years, Bronwyn Howard; children Kimberly Bowman and husband Doug, Amy Womack and husband Bennie, Maggie Maples and husband Josh; and bonus children Ross Huckaby and wife Marisol, and Sarah Huckaby; grandchildren Kyle Bales and wife Chelsea, Braden Fields and fiancé Laura, Marissa Bowman and husband Joseph Irle, and Baylee Reyes and husband Alexander, Abby Womack, and Anna Womack; great grandchild Aurora Janet Reyes, and bonus grandchildren Gabriel Huckaby and Sophia Huckaby; siblings Betty Melson and husband Thomas, Butch Howard, brother-in-law John Matthews and wife Meghan; nephews Tommy Melson and wife Angie, Tony Melson, and Brennan Matthews, as well as five great nephews.

A celebration of life for David Howard will be held at 10am on Saturday April 16, 2022 at the First Baptist Church of Stroud. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation to the American Cancer Society or First Baptist Church of Stroud.

Arrangements are under the direction of Lehman Funeral Home of Wellston.
