Roger David Houston

Roger David Houston
November 25, 1946 ~ September 16, 2015

Roger David Houston was born on November 25, 1946 to Alton Eron Houston and Floye Sullivan Houston in Bokchito, Oklahoma. He passed away on September 16, 2015 in Platoro, Colorado.

David graduated from Bokchito High School in 1965 and continued his education over several years at Southeastern Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City University, and finished his Bachelor's Degree at Abilene Christian University.

David served for two years in the United States Army.

He married Julie Ann Jaffe Houston on January 15, 1972 in DeSoto, Texas.

David started his law enforcement career at the Dallas Police Department at the age of 19. He served Dallas Police Department for 26 years and retired as a Sergeant.

He then joined the Bryan County Sheriff's Office as a Deputy Sheriff. He was a deputy and an investigator for BCSO for six years before joining the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent. He served sixteen years with the OSBI and retired in 2013. After his second retirement, David returned to BCSO and continued to serve his community as a Reserve Deputy.

David was a member of the Sunset View Baptist Church.

He was a charter member of the Bryan County Peace Officers Association and a retired member of the OSBI Agent's Association.

In his off time, he enjoyed reading and hunting.

David was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James Houston and wife Barbara of Corpus Christi, Texas and brother, Don Houston of Bokchito.

He is survived by his wife Julie of the home and children, daughter Dawn and husband James Mathis of Wylie, Texas, daughter Dana and husband Chris Webb of Florence, Alabama, daughter Julianne Halliday of Calera, Oklahoma, daughter Heather and husband Frank Inouye of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, son Cameron and wife Katrina Houston of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and son Eron and wife Carrie Houston of Woodward, Oklahoma.

David is also survived by his grandchildren; Dylan and Nikki Pumphrey, January Williams, Josh Blackwell, Caitlin, and husband Will Hunt, Steven and Madeline Jacks, Avery and Owen Halliday, Alexa and Richard Inouye, Roger David Houston II, Asa, Lydia, Hannah, and John Houston, Nate Hobson and Issac Houston.

He is also survived by his sister, Sue Anderson and sister in law Dahlila Houston both of Bokchito, mother in law Sherry Jaffe of DeSoto, brother in law Mark Jaffe and wife Beverly of Hamilton, Texas, brother in law Roger Jaffee and wife Malea of Red Oak, Texas, sister in law Amy Shaw and brother in law Scott Shaw, both of Arlington, Texas, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2015 at the First Baptist Church in Durant with Harry Boydstun Jr. officiating.

There will be no interment and family night is Monday from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Service, Durant.
