Zetta Carol Horton, longtime resident of Prue, OK, passed from this life on Wednesday, January 29, 2025, at the Cleveland Manor Nursing Home at Cleveland, OK. She was 74 years of age. Zetta was born in Hominy, OK to Delbert and Alma (Cypert) Horton and was raised and received her education in Prue. Zetta attended Northeastern State University where she received her bachelor’s degree in education. She taught her entire career with the Prue Public Schools.
Family was always important to Zetta, and she always enjoyed get togethers with all her siblings and her nieces, nephews. She also enjoyed playing pitch and cooking, as well as sewing, gardening, knitting and crocheting. Zetta was a compassionate person who was very gracious, loving and caring person. She was the type of person who always put everyone else first, always making sure everyone was taken care of; even playing a big part in helping raise her nieces and nephews. Zetta suffered a leg injury from the tornado that hit Prue in 1984, but she never let this interfere with living her life.
Zetta is survived by seven siblings – Marty Horton, Karen Horton, Larry Horton, Johnny Horton, Brenda Owens, Sandra Smith and Isaac Horton; as well as 26 nieces and nephews and 38 great nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents – Delbert & Alma Horton, brother Wayne Horton and three sisters Beverly Paddock, Alma (Sissy) Biggs and Rita Burgess.
Memorial services for Zetta will be held at her church the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses in Cleveland, OK on Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 2:00 PM. Cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Powell Funeral Home of Hominy. www.powellfuneralservice.com
