Baxter Ben Horne

April 18, 1927 ~ November 22, 1980

Baxter Ben Horne, 53, 214 W. Vine, died suddenly Saturday morning. Funeral services will be at 4 PM Tuesday in Ladusau-Evans Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Hayes Wicker officiating.

Graveside services will be conducted at 2 PM Wednesday in the Forest Park Cemetery at Fort Smith, Arkansas.

Horne was born April 18, 1927, in Fort Smith, Arkansas, and attended school at Central High School in Oklahoma City. He entered the boxing profession at an early age, becoming state and national Golden Gloves Champion in 1945 and 1946. He was also an employee of different hotels in Wichita, Kansas, Oklahoma City and Enid. He had lived in Enid about 20 years.

Horne was a veteran of World War II, serving in the United States Navy.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Joyce Horne; one sister, Mrs. Bill (Frances) Shane, Enid; one brother, Burton W. Horne, Seattle, Washington; an aunt and several nieces and nephews.
