Don Horn 74-year-old local well known area rancher, passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2024, at the St. Francis Hospital in Tulsa. Don was born on December 12, 1949, in Marlow, Oklahoma to Bobby and Evelyn Ruth (Dorman) Horn.
He worked on many ranches in his life in Texas, Montana, Florida, Arizona, and Oklahoma, including, JA Ranch, Turkey Track Ranch, San Sabe, Quien Sabe, Johnson Ranch, Binion’s Ranch, Four Sixes Ranch, Diamond A, trained horses in Florida at the Davies Ranch, and others along the way. He moved to Oklahoma in 1993 from Claude, Texas. Don also had worked for clients at Home of Hope and New Care. Don was a member of the Bar None Cowboy Church in Afton and served as an Elder. He loved horses, his kids and grandkids, cooking, and mostly telling people about Jesus.
He married Debbie (Prine) on September 3, 1993, in Bentonville, Arkansas, they had their own ranching operation, raising cattle, and horses.
He was preceded in death by his father, the man who raised Don from when he was a baby, R. D. McLain and a sister, Diane Rigsby.
The family includes his wife Debbie of the home, his mother, Ruth Evelyn McLain of McLean, Texas, his children, R. D. Horn (Robin) of Amarillo, TX, Powder Horn (Amy) Dalhart, TX, Joel Horn (Jennifer) of Clarendon, TX, Lark Horn of Salt Lick, KY, Will Doggett (Joy) of Vinita, OK, Jeremy Powell (Felicia) Clarendon, TX, Josiah Horn (Sara) of Benbrook, TX, Christy Houston of Amarillo, Sherri Haschke (Eric) of Dalhart, TX, Marissa Torres (T.J.) of Houston, TX, Joaenea Horn of Ashtola, TX, Shawna Hennig (Billy) of Kelton, TX, siblings, Dean McLain of Amarillo, TX, Shirley Harbour of Annona, TX, Danny McLain of Borger, TX, Brenda McLain of McLean, TX, Tammy Hanes of McLean, TX, numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
The visitation will be held from 1-2 pm on Saturday, September 28, 2024, at the Cowboy Junction Church in Vinita. The celebration of life will follow starting at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 28, 2024 at Cowboy Junction, Pastors Dean Bridges and Kye Reiff will officiate.
