Richard Allen Hope

Richard Allen Hope
March 1, 1931 ~ July 12, 2022

Richard Hope, 91 year old Woodward resident passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2022 at his home. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of the Billings Funeral Home.

Richard Allen Hope was born March 1, 1931 to Roy Elmer and Ella Elizabeth (Cornue) Hope in Cushing, Oklahoma. Richard grew up in Cushing and graduated from Quay High School in 1949 where he was the class president. Richard was inducted into the United States Navy in January of 1950. He was ranked as a Third Class Radio Operator and honorably discharged in November of 1953.

Richard was united into marriage to Nila Sandra McCague on October 12, 1963 in Ralston, Oklahoma. The couple made their first home in Seminole, Oklahoma before moving to Fairfax, Oklahoma, Mooreland, Oklahoma and later settled in Woodward, Oklahoma.

He worked for Halliburton as an operator and truck driver for 32 years before retiring in 1986. He also was the field supervisor. He worked for NW Transport for eight years. Richard often enjoyed camping, traveling, and sightseeing. He and Sandy traveled from Canada all over the United States. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ralston.

Richard is survived by his wife Sandra Hope of the home; one daughter, Gayla Borthick and husband Mike of Bristow, Oklahoma; brother John Hope and wife Lisa of Greenville, Tennessee; grandchildren, Suncerae Spence and husband Josiah of Austin, Texas; Jacob Smith and wife Katherine of St. Johns, Florida; two great-grandchildren, Logan and Kayana Smith of St. Johns, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Ella (Cornue) and Roy Hope, three brothers, Loyd, Glen, and Vernon; three sisters, Anita Sarale, Aileen Davis, and Evelyn Wilkerson.
