APACHE - Memorial service for Esther D. Hoover, 85, Apache, will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Crews Funeral Home Chapel, Apache, with the Rev. Leon Shade officiating.
Mrs. Hoover died Tuesday, Nov. 18, 2008, at her home.
Burial will be in Willamette National Cemetery, Portland, Ore.
She was born April 22, 1923, in Billings, Mont., to Elzah and Mary Virginia Albright Hoover.
She married Hoy Hoover on Sept. 14, 1941, in Klamath Falls, Ore.
She was a school cook at Hillcrest in North Bend, Ore. They moved to Empire, Ore., where she started the school lunch program in the Empire School. She later worked as a cook for the Salvation Army until she retired.
She was a member of the Salvation Army and was very active in the Home League. She held many positions throughout her time with the organization. She was also a member of the Royal Neighbors of America.
She moved from Salem, Ore., to Apache in 2004 and lived with her daughter.
Survivors include a daughter, Lena Webb; of the home; nine grandchildren: Chloveta Caudill, Debbie Mileto, LaDonna Mihecoby, Cheryl Turner, Raymond Woothtakewahbitty, LaQuinta Wehmeyer, Reesa Laws, Timithy Laws and John Hoover; 28 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Vernon Pryor, Klamath Falls, Ore.; two sisters: Florence Wagner, Milwaukee, Ore.; and Charlotte Clark, Albuquerque, N.M.
She was preceded in death by her husband; a son, Everett E. Hoover; two brothers: Al Pryor and Ed Pryor; and two sisters: Ethel Marek and Catherine Pryor.
