Barbara Joyce (Miller) Hooper was born on January 16, 1935 to Jidy and Bernice (Delay) Miller. She passed away on December 29, 2020 in Stilwell at the age of 85 years old.
She met the love of her life, Charles "OD" Hooper and they married June 12, 1951. This union lasted 68 wonderful years, while settling in Grey Squirrel Hollow in Dry Creek, Oklahoma, and was blessed with 4 children, Robert, William, Youlanda and Trisha. Barbara worked at Stilwell Foods and Zion Schools until retirement, and then started doing ceramics as a hobby.
Barbara loved her family and especially her grandchildren. She loved to cook for them and others. It was not unusual for her to make batches of goodies at Christmas and have OD deliver them to all their family and friends. But the most famous of all were those hot rolls that she could make better than anyone else.
Barbara loved the Lord with all her heart and served him faithfully. She loved to sing and would sit for hours and record songs on a cassette player to learn the words and melody. Even the past few years as her dementia was taking away the memories of her loved ones, she could still sing her favorite songs, word for word, and praise her Lord and Savior.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband OD Hooper, her son Robert Hooper, daugher-in-law Rhonda Hooper, her parents, along with her siblings, Buddy and Ronnie Miller and Sue Turner, 4 sisters-in-law and 3 brothers-in-law.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory a loving family which includes her children, William and Pam Hooper, Youlanda and Lanny Cain, Trisha and Jerry Bigfeather and a daughter-in-law Jane Hooper all of Grey Squirrel Hollow in Dry Creek. She is also survived by 9 grandchildren, Sam Hooper of Eureka, Ca, Shannon and Heath Sand of Sperry, OK, Crystal and Matt Wilson of Bunch, OK, Caleb and Elise' Cain of Billings, MT, Jeff and Audra Bigfeather of Park Hill, OK, Kyle and Emily Hooper of Summerville, SC, Seth Hooper of Bunch, OK and Marissa Bigfeather of Tahlequah, OK, Weston and Tayler Cain of Kuna, ID, 14 great grandchildren. Many friends and other relatives also survive her.
