Jessie Edgar “Sonny” Holt passed away peacefully on Monday, January 28, 2019. He was born in Overbrook on January 25, 1935 to Edgar Eugene and Maude Winifred Sharp Holt.
Sonny resided in the Denver area for 60 years, where he owned and operated a number of detective and auto recovery agencies. After retirement, Sonny became dedicated to service to his community. He found great joy as a member of Northglenn’s Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni Association, which provides support and logistical assistance to the Northglenn Police Department ‘Volunteer of the Year’ in 2014.
Preceding him in death were his parents; sister, Joyce Evelyn and an infant sister, Mary Francis.
Survivors include two sisters, Betty Sue McMullin of Richmond, Virginia and Wanda June Holt of Orlando, Florida; brother, Gary Don Holt of Denver, his longtime companion, Priscilla “Joe” Dunn; five children, Donna Joyce Atcherson and Nancy (Wayne) Cook, all of Houston, Randy (Lori) and Brett (Brandy) Holt, all of Elgin, Illinois, and Ron (Sandi) Holt of Placentia, California; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of his life was held at 2 p.m. Monday, February 4 at the Northglenn Senior Center. Interment will be in a private ceremony in Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests making a donation to the Northglenn Senior Center or a charity of one’s choice.
Sonny was a gentle man who was much-loved by all who knew him. He will be sorely missed by his friends and family.
