Kay Ko (Saylor) Holmes

Kay Ko (Saylor) Holmes
July 3, 1970 ~ March 14, 2021

Kay Ko Holmes died Sunday in Copan after a courageous, three-year battle with cancer. The 50-year-old Copan resident is now with her Heavenly Father.

Kay Ko was born the daughter of Gary Leon and Tokiyo “Cookie” (Kondo) Saylor on July 3, 1970, in Miami, Oklahoma. She was raised in Miami and Wyandotte, graduating from Wyandotte High School in 1988.

Growing up Kay Ko loved being a child of the ‘80s: the music, the concerts and her friends. After high school, she attended cosmetology school, then worked at local shops until opening her own salon the Copan Beauty Shop.

One night while at a club she met Jamie, and Kay Ko swore he followed her around all night and never left. They were together for seven years before making it official on their anniversary February 10, 2007, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They established their home in Copan. In addition to being a wife, mother, beautician and business woman, Kay Ko made time to serve as a civic leader in the local community. She was active on the city council for many years, working to better life for her family and neighbors.

More than anything else, Kay Ko loved her children. She was active in her kids’ many school activities and their biggest and loudest fan. She was a proud Air Force Mom and was excited to attend Brian’s basic training graduation in San Antonio, Texas. Mimi loved and spoiled her grandchildren, making trips to Enid to visit Destinee and planning sleepovers at grandma’s house with Throttle. Together with Jamie, Kay Ko enjoyed going to the lake most weekends and hanging out with friends. Over the years they made memorable trips as a couple, family and in groups with dear friends.

In her free time, she crocheted and her small lap blankets turned out to be king sized blankets by the time she finished. She never, ever left the house without doing her hair and makeup - she was beautiful in every way and will be dearly missed.

Kay Ko is survived by her husband of 21 years Jamie, son Brian Holmes and wife Danielle, daughter Kayce Holmes, grandchildren Throttle and Destinee, and fur babies Tank, Dorothy and her very special terrier Dazey. She is preceded in death by her parents.

Celebration of Life services will be held 11 a.m. on Wednesday, March 24, at the Davis Family Funeral Home - Dewey Chapel, with Pastor Tasha Hollopeter officiating. Services are under the direction of Carter Davis and the Davis Family Funeral Home – Dewey Chapel. Online condolences and remembrances may be shared at www.DavisFamilyFuneralHome.com.
