James "Floyd" Holloway

May 2, 1912 ~ October 27, 2006

Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, November 1st, 2006 at 11:00 a.m., at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Bishop Phillip Lewis will officiate.

Floyd passed away Friday, October 27th, 2006.

He was born on May 2, 1912, in Cisco, OK. Floyd grew up in Winters, TX where he met and married Lena Price in 1931. Floyd and Lena had two children. They moved to California in 1942 so he could work in the shipyards during WW II.

The family moved to Kern County in 1945. Floyd owned and operated an auto repair shop in McFarland. Later he and his wife had a board and care home for developmentally delayed adult men.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lena, in 1995.

He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Tari Holloway of Vacaville, CA; and his daughter and son-in-law, Romona and Norman Laxson of Bakersfield. He has 9 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild on the way.

The family would like to thank Irma Garcia at Castlewood Gardens for her care and kindness and also give special appreciation to the staff at California Care Center.
