Glenda Nell (Westmoreland) Holloway

Glenda Nell (Westmoreland) Holloway
August 22, 1935 ~ September 26, 2016

Glenda Nell Westmoreland Holloway, beloved wife, mother and grandmother (Mimi) went to be with her Lord on September 26, 2016. She loved children and spent much time with them, teaching and touching their lives, and they loved her in return. She encouraged people but had a special place in her heart for children.

Glenda was born August 22, 1935 in Port Arthur, Texas to Luther Lee Westmoreland and Jennie Eola McCutcheon Westmoreland. Glenda graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School. She earned a Bachelor's of Education degree from Lamar University in 1957 where she was a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She taught third grade in Port Arthur where she also met the love of her life and future husband of 51 years, Carl Holloway.

They were married December 19, 1964 in Port Arthur, and lived in Stillwater, Oklahoma for about a semester. As a stay at home adult, she soon had neighborhood children knocking on her door asking if she could come out and play. She always joyfully complied with the request. They moved to Houston in the fall of 1965 for Carl to continue his studies and she taught fourth grade for a semester but then interrupted her career to start her family. Jennie Lee was born in Houston in that time and then Carl secured a job with Phillips Petroleum Company in Bartlesville. Carl Clayton (Clay) Holloway III was born in Bartlesville. Glenda was a stay at home mother during the school years for her children but became a pre-school teacher for Jeanne Squyres' Child Development Center in Bartlesville. She taught at that school for several years until her retirement.

Glenda was active in the children's area of Sunday School at Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church till the present time.

Glenda was preceded in death by her parents Luther and Eola Westmoreland, her older brother Kennard Max Westmoreland and her nephew Kennard Max Westmoreland Jr.

Glenda is survived by her husband, Carl Holloway, of Bartlesville, daughter Jennie Allen of Edmond, Oklahoma, her husband Scott, grand-daughter Madeline Glen, and grandson Ryne; son Carl Clayton(Clay)Holloway III of Arlington, VA, his wife Jamie, grand-daughter Emma Clare and grandson Turner: her brother Bruce Westmoreland of Leesville, Louisiana, and his wife Alice, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Thursday September 29, 2016 6-8 pm, at Stumpff Funeral Home in Bartlesville. Funeral services will be 2 pm Friday September 30, 2016 at Bartlesville Southern Baptist Church. Graveside services will be held at 10am Monday October 3, 2016 in Leesville, Louisiana at Pine Hill Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations in Glenda's name may be made to Hope Clinic, P.O. Box 4025, Bartlesville, Oklahoma 74006.
