Vergil Alva Hollis

???? ~ July 12, 2005 | Age 89

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 16, at 10:30 a.m., in Greenlawn Southwest Memorial Chapel, 2739 Panama Ln., for Vergil Alva Hollis, 89, who passed away July 12, 2005.

Vergil will be joining his wife, Irene, who he was married to for 70 years before losing her on April 4, 2005.

He is survived by his children and their spouses, Emile Hollis, Curtis Hollis, Gerald Hollis, Kay and Richard Pellerin, Gail and Dan Keeter, Tressa and Leonard Deason, all of Bakersfield; 11 grand-children; 5 great-grandchildren; sister, Juanita Ellis; many nieces and nephews and brothers of the Lodge.

Vergil was a farmer in Oklahoma before moving to Kern County where he resided for the last 59 years and was very active in the community.

He worked for Montgomery Wards as a service mechanic where he retired after 28 years. He was a member of the Kern County Shrine Club, Meudell-Oildale Lodge #695, Bakersfield Scottish Rite, Al Malaikah Temple, Moble Nobles, Honorary member of the Order of DeMolay.

Donations may be made in memory of Vergil to Shriners Hospital for Children, 3100 Geneva St., Los Angeles, CA 90007.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m., on Friday.
