Ruby (Gardner) Hollis

???? ~ April 3, 2005 | Age 87

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, April 7, at 9:30 a.m., in Greenlawn Memorial Park, 3700 River Blvd., for Ruby Gardner Hollis, 87, who passed away April 3, 2005. Pastor Doug Davis will officiate.

Ruby was born on a farm in Paoli, Oklahoma to Lonnie and Cora Gardner. She was raised by her mother and grandparents after her fathers death in 1919, when she was 18 months old. After graduation from high school, she married Leonard Hollis in 1937 and bore three sons, Harvey, Jack and Danny. Leonard and Ruby were married for 45 years until his death in 1982 from cancer.

After retirement Ruby traveled extensively and volunteered at the Greenfield Senior Center. Ruby enjoyed golf and graced many ballroom dance floors. In her earthly travels she enjoyed a good life and knew the Lord as her Savior.

Ruby is preceded in death by her husband, Leonard; son, Harvey; mother, Cora; and father Lonnie; three brothers, Raymond, Carl and Cecil; and her devoted grandparents. She is survived by sons, Jack Hollis of Bakersfield, Danny Hollis and wife, Mary of Hendersonville,TN; daughter-in-law Bonnie (Harvey) and Steve Watkins of Bakersfield; 5 grandchildren; 9 great-grand-children and 3 great-great grandchildren.

Rubys family would like to thank Mary, Tiffany, Amanda and all the others at Optimal Hospice for their devoted care.

Visitation begins today, 5:00 9:00 p.m., and Wednesday, 9:00 a.m. 9:00 p.m.
