Dorothy Cleo (Combs) Holcomb

Dorothy Cleo (Combs) Holcomb
November 23, 1927 ~ April 25, 2016

Dorothy Cleo (Combs) Holcomb was born November 23, 1927, in Port, OK to Joseph Lafayette and Norma Sybil (Hart) Combs. She passed from this life Monday, April 25, 2016 in Leedey, OK at the age of 88 years. Dorothy started school in Carter, later moving to Leedey, attending school and graduating with the class of 1947. Dorothy was baptized September 1, 1941 and holds the distinguishing honor of being the longest member of the First Baptist Church in Leedey.

Dorothy was united in marriage to Orville Holcomb on October 7, 1947 in Mobeetie, TX. This union was blessed with three sons, Charles, Mike, and Mark, and five daughters, Nicki, Lorri, Beth, Terri, and Jennifer. They started their married life on a farm east of Leedey. In the early 1950’s, they bought the farm, where they raised their eight children. Dorothy worked hard as a farm wife raising eight children. There was always a garden and canning to be done. She was an excellent cook and there were three meals a day. In their early days they milked cows and sold cream. It was a hard life, but she made the best of it. After they moved to town in 2003, she enjoyed watching tv and entertaining her large family. The grandkids and great grandkids always stopped by for ice cream or popsicles. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Norma Combs; husband Orville Holcomb; sister Norma Jo Prather; and grandson, Kyle Mark Holcomb.

Those left to cherish her memory are: sons, Charles Holcomb and Mike Holcomb, both of Leedey, OK, Mark Holcomb of Butler, OK; daughters, Nicki Day of Camargo, OK, Lorri Boyd of Leedey, OK, Beth Flowers of Weatherford, OK, Terri Louthan of Elk City, OK, and Jennifer Cornelsen of Weatherford, OK; grandchildren Rusty Puffinbarger, Mitch Boyd, Kelly Taylor, Stacy Boyd, Tom Flowers, Trent Louthan, Josh Louthan, Kody Louthan, Rylee Louthan, Kelby Holcomb, Bailey Thrasher, and Bobbi Cornelsen; great-grandchildren Jack, Luke, and Blake Puffinbarger, Aaron, Allie, Madison, and Mackenzie Boyd, Calli, Maverick, and Knox Taylor, Keevin and Paizlee Louthan, Jason Flowers, Kopen, Quade, and Sophia Louthan; aunt Eva Ruth Curtis; precious caretaker Barbara Devlin; numerous nieces and nephews, other family members, and many dear friends.
