Samuel Byron Hodges was born, January 23, 1952, in Stroud, Oklahoma to William and Touchie Hodges and passed away peacefully at home on August 29, 2022 in Prague, Oklahoma, at the age of 70.
Sammy married Saundra Walters on February 5, 1971 and they were married for 51 years. He worked as a bulldozer operator for 50 years and started Sam Hodges Dozer Service in 1989 and was in business until retiring in 2021.
Sammy was preceded in death by his parents, William and Touchie Hodges; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edwin and Gail Walters; brothers, William S. Hodges, Lucian Hodges and Larry Hodges; brother-in-law, James Watkins; nephews, Brian Hodges, Beau Walters and Niece, Tammy Hodges.
Sammy is survived by his wife, Saundra Hodges, of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea and Travis Pettyjohn of Edmond; son and daughter-in-law, Adam and Trina Hodges of Prague; grandson, Trent Pettyjohn and fiancee, Marianna DePaz of Prague; grandson, Trevor Pettyjohn and fiancee, Bethaney Kernell of Guthrie; grandson and granddaughter-in-law, Preston and Molly Hodges of Prague; granddaughter, Taylor Hodges of Luther; grandson, Byron Hodges of Prague and great-grandson, Tripp Pettyjohn of Prague; brother and sister-in-law, Steve and Rose Hodges; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Tommy and Joan Walters; sister-in-law, Bethie Watkins; sister-in-law, Connie Hodges; sister-in-law, Janice Hodges; sister-in-law, Jerry Lou Hodges and host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. He is also survived by his favorite companion and best friend, J.C, his dog.
