Hodges, Kenneth M. (80)
Born in Wayne, OK to Lennie Wallace Hodges and Mary Kitchens Hodges.
Ken passed away at his home in San Juan Capistrano with his wife Trish and grandchildren at his bedside. Ken's death was a result of an accidental fall with complications that followed.
Ken is survived by his wife Trish Bohanan Hodges; children Dr. Devon Hodges Swanson (Eric) of Arlington, VA; sons Mark of Republic, Wash., David (Laurel) of Santa Barbara; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth, Samuel, Phineas, Abigail, Kate, Tess and Emma Hodges and Tristan and Cecily Swanson; one brother, Dale (Marlene) of Thousand Oaks, CA; two step-children Ronda Driscoll of Ormond Beach, FL and Robert Bohanan (Rita) of Huntington Beach and step-grandchildren Douglas Driscoll (Marti) Sean, Dru Driscoll (Nicolle) all of Ormond Beach, FL and Sara Bohanan of Huntington Beach and four step-great grandchildren, three nieces, one nephew and many cousins of both the Hodges and Kitchens families.
Ken served in the U.S. Army during World War II as an Intelligence Sergeant in the European Theater.
Before being drafted into the Army, as an 18 year old he was a jig builder at North American Aviation and was the youngest member of "The North American Jive Bombers" swing band.
Ken's business interests were many and varied; Publications Manager for AiResearch, Joint Venture Partner Weapons Support Group (Production Service Co.), President/Owner Rotamec (Motors), Inc., Partner-GSA Publications, President MRA Enterprises, Inc. and a systems-analyst consultant to most major Aerospace companies in the Los Angeles area. Ken was instrumental in the marketing and feasibility studies for Marina City Club, the cities of San Fernando, Inglewood, Los Angeles International Club, L.A. Raquet Club.
Ken became an authority on the coast and ports of Baja California while consulting for Hughes Aircraft. Ken and his wife Trish spent many years attempting to establish a Resort at Coyote Beach on the Sea of Cortez. Ken and his former wife, Shirley Hodges Wolfe, lived in Santa Monica for several years where Ken served on many Committees and Commissions, including an appointment by Gov. "Pat" Brown as co-chairman of the Santa Monica Causeway-Freeway Committee.
Ken never met a stranger and he touched many lives. Ken had an inquisitve mind, was proud of his English/Welsh/Scots heritage and loved Trish..his "Darling" and their large and extended family without reservation.
Interment will be at Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego/Pt. Loma on Monday, August 8, 2005 at 11 A.M. with Military Honors.
Kenneth Melvin Hodges, 80, a former resident of Purcell, died July 3, 2005 in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.
Mr. Hodges was born in Wayne, the son of Wallace Lennie and Mary Adaline Hodges. He was reared in Purcell, graduating from Purcell High School in 1942 where he played on the PHS football team and played a cornet in the band.
He moved to Los Angeles, Calif., following graduation and served in the U.S. Army in World War II in the European Theatre.
Mr. Hodges had a career in technical writing and engineering consulting.
Survivors include his wife, Trish; three children, Devon, Mark and David; nine grandchildren and one brother, Dale Hodges.
