Jeanne “Jean” (Mahoney) Hodde

Jeanne “Jean” Hodde, long-time Chandler, Oklahoma, resident was born on November 6, 1940, in Louisville, Kentucky. She departed this life on August 31, 2023, at her home in Chandler at the age of 82 years.

Jean was the daughter of Charles and Daisy (Raffel) Mahoney. At a young age, her family moved to Texas. Jean grew up in Corpus Christi and graduated from the WB Ray High School in 1958, she then attended Del Mar College. Jean married Jerry Crary June of 1957. She lived in numerous places around the country and eventually ended up in Chandler, Oklahoma. Jean worked at Lincoln County News Paper as a proofreader and columnist, then in Sept.1980, she went to work at the Lincoln County Court House. Jean worked in numerous capacities at the Court House including the District Attorney’s office, Court Clerks Office, County Assessors Office and Treasurers Office, she retired in 2013. Jean was a member of the Chandler Friends Church and Lincoln On Stage. She married Don Hodde on January 26, 1990, in Chandler. Jean loved drawing, crocheting, knitting, theatrics, old movies, theater popcorn, potato chips and coke, was an avid reader, loved to joke and had a wonderful sense of humor. She will be greatly missed.

Preceding Jean in death were her parents; twin sister, Jerri; sister, Joann; and brother Chuck.

Survivors include her husband Don of the home; two sons and daughter-in-law, Kelly and Carol Crary of Sparks, and Danny Crary of Oklahoma City; one daughter and son-in-law, Weleta and Vance Easley of Chandler; six grandchildren, Kristi Tackett and husband Ryan, Jerry Crary and wife Crystal, Dalton Crary, Brendon Crary Lightfoot, Jessica Harruff, and Champaign Hasbell; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great great-grandson; several nieces and nephews, other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, Sept 23, 2023, at the Friends Church in Chandler, with Pastor Josiah Brown officiating.
