Let us pause to honor the memory of Mr. Terry Wayne Hockenbury.
Mr. Terry Wayne Hockenbury, age 64, of Ponca City, Oklahoma entered this life on April 12, 1955. He was the loving son of Kenneth Eugene Hockenbury and Maxine Louise Jenkins Hockenbury. Born and raised right here in Ponca City, along with his brother, Dennis.
From an early age, Terry was a musician. He began playing guitar at the tender age of 8. He also sang and played the piano and violin. Terry was a very private person and didn’t have much to say until he got up on stage, that’s when he would light up the room. He was a founding member of the local Ponca City band “Prezence” as well as the “Land of OZ” out of Wichita. Some of his favorite bands were the Beatles and Journey. Terry was an animal lover and owned a beloved dog and a parakeet. He worked as a communication specialist at Conoco.
Who he leaves behind:
Surviving Terry are his mother, brother Dennis
and sister-in-law Lisa Hockenbury of Ponca City, their children: Chad and
his wife Jessica Hocknbury of Colorado, Traci and her husband Bill
Dollarhide of Arkansas, and Sean Hockenbury of Ponca City. Great nieces
Kylie Hockenbury and Kamryn Dollarhide. And great nephews Kaleb Dollarhide
and Gunner Kuker. He was preceded in death by his father.
Funeral services:
A rock n roll celebration of life will be held at
2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 4, 2019 at Grace Memorial Chapel, 2016 N 14th
Street, Ponca City, OK. The minister Larry Kitchell will officiate. Honorary
casket bearers will include John Simpson, Terry Hacker, Greg Brown, Keke
Johnson, Rick Gerkin, Chris Glamann, Ronnie Johnson, Ray Moreland and Rick
Dwinel.
