John Carlis “J.C.” Hobson Jr.
December 13, 1929 ~ November 26, 2022

John “J.C.” Hobson Jr. age 92 of Lexington, passed away on November 26, 2022.

John Carlis Hobson Jr. was the second of eight children born to John Carlis Hobson Sr. and Martha Ann Hobson (Wall) on December 13, 1929 in Spencerville, Oklahoma. His family made their way to Mississippi, where he attended school in Heidelberg.

In 1951 John joined the United States Army and served during the Korean War.

Once he left the military, John went to work in the oil field. He held numerous jobs and positions such as pump and pipeline gauger, mechanic, compressor operator, and aquatic survival instructor. He spent over 30 years with the Chevron Oil Company retiring as an assistant field foreman.

John then enjoyed his hard-earned retirement settling in Lexington. John loved life on the farm, he kept chickens, rabbits, and even had horses for a time. He had a gentle and loving spirit, and never met a stranger. He would offer help to anyone in need. John loved to tinker with woodworking in his shop. He made everything from hope chests to bed frames for his friends and family. He cherished being a grandpa, and was a beloved husband and father who will be dearly missed.

John was preceded in death by his parents, John Hobson Sr. and Martha Hobson. His brothers Troy Hobson and Charles Hobson, and his sisters Barbara Cheek and Imogene Hobson.

He is survived by his wife, Edna Hobson of the home. His brother Jack Hobson, and sisters Winnie White and Mary Davenport. His children Dick Hobson, John C. Hobson III, Vicki Mizell, Mona Harlington, Patsy Gilleland, and Nancy Ann Tomlinson. John also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Viewing will be held at Wilson-Little Funeral Home Wednesday November 30. The family will receive guests from 2:30-4:00 p.m. Send online condolences at www.wilsonlittle.com
