Rolla T. Hoberecht

February 21, 1894 ~ June 22, 1980

Watonga – Rolla T. Hoberecht, former Watonga resident and banker, died suddenly Sunday at his home in Oklahoma City. He was 86 years old.

Born February 21, 1894, at Otterville, Missouri, to John William and Sarah Frances Hoberecht, he attended school at Carmen, and moved to Watonga as a youth. On May 15, 1915, he married Delphine Pratt.

Hoberecht worked in the bank at Watonga with his brother. During World War I, he served in England and France, and was a sergeant first class at the time of his honorable discharge July 31, 1919. At that time, he moved to Weatherford where he was President of the First National Bank. During the depression years, he served with the Federal Land Bank at Wichita, Kansas.

Hoberecht and Frances Emanuel were married October 4, 1931. After being in the banking business in New Mexico, he moved to Los Angeles and was manager of a branch bank.

In 1955, he organized the Gilmore Bank at the Farmer's Market in Los Angeles where he served as president until his retirement one year ago.

Hoberecht was a member of the Masonic Lodge at Watonga where he kept his dues paid up to the time of his death.

Survivors include his wife, Frances; one son, Hal G. Hoberecht, Watonga; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Service is pending with Guardian Midtown Funeral Home, 1133 N. Robinson, Oklahoma City.
