Sidney Lee Hix

Sidney Lee Hix, 93 of Yarnaby went to be with his Lord and Savior on Monday, April 7, 2014. He was born on May 2, 1920 to James Arthur and Lora (Bowen) Hix in Yarnaby, OK.

After graduating high school he went on to serve in the United States Army from July 2, 1942 to September 18, 1945. While in the Army, he was awarded the District Unit Badge, Purple Heart, Bronze Star Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and EAME Ribbon with one Silver and three Bronze Service Stars. He married the love of his life, Geneva Greenwalt on March 26, 1949 in Sherman, TX and had just celebrated their 65th anniversary. He was a farmer/rancher for all of his life and also a member of Yuba Baptist Church. Sidney enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, gardening and playing dominoes.

He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Hall Hix, and sister Rosetta Dyson. 

He is survived by his wife, Geneva Hix of the home, sons; James Stanley Hix and wife April of Houston, TX, and Tandy Hix and wife Dawn of Durant, OK, grandsons; Shannon Hix and wife Becky of Coalgate, OK, Austin Hix and wife Abbi of Durant, OK and Colby Hix and fianc� Hannah of Sherman, TX, step granddaughter Candice Trotter of Houston, TX, three great granddaughters, one great grandson, and along with numerous nieces and nephews. 

Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at 10:00 am at the Yarnaby Assembly of God Church. Pastor Rick Ring will be officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to the Yarnaby Assembly of God Church. Condolences can be made at www.brownsfuneralservice.com. Arrangements are under the direction of Brown’s Funeral Service in Durant, OK.
