John Wayne Hirsch

???? ~ March 12, 2002 | Age 61

John Wayne Hirsch, 61, of Amarillo died Tuesday, March 12, 2002.

Celebration of life services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday in Boxwell Brothers Funeral Directors Ivy Chapel, 2820 Virginia Circle, with Davlyn Duesterhaus, chaplain of Baptist St. Anthony's Hospice, officiating.

Mr. Hirsch was born in Pampa, but had lived his lifetime in Amarillo. When growing up he enjoyed the Maverick Boys Club and Nard's Gymnastics.

He married Denise Hunter on June 17, 1988, at Albuquerque, N.M. He enjoyed fishing and camping at Foss Lake, Okla. He will be missed deeply by family and a host of friends.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, John Hirsch Jr. and Kyle Hirsch, both of Amarillo; three brothers, Bill Hirsch of Tulsa, Okla., Dick Hirsch of Austin and Bobby Shelton of Arlington; three stepdaughters, Gaby Long of Amarillo, Sarah Owen of Canyon and Jennifer Matthews of College Station; a stepson, Tommy Long of Amarillo; and five stepgrandchildren.

The family suggests memorials be to BSA Hospice, P.O. Box 950, Amarillo, TX 79105; or Maverick Boys and Girls Club, 1923 S. Lincoln St., Amarillo, TX 79109.

The family will be at 4824 Brown St.
