On the morning of August 7, 2016, our beloved Marcia Lynne Napier Hinkel left this earth to be with the Lord at the age of 60.
Marcia was born on July 11, 1956 in McAlester, Oklahoma. Marcia was the third daughter of five girls born to Wiley Eugene "Dub" Napier and Odelia Mae Napier.
Marcia attended school in Hugo, OK, and graduated from Hugo High School in 1974. Marcia had a great group of girlfriends who cherish many happy memories. Marcia married Tony Whittmore in 1974 and attended Carl Albert State College in Poteau. She became an LPN at the Poteau Hospital. Marcia continued her education at Paris Junior College to become a Registered Nurse. She worked at the Hugo Hospital where she made lifelong friends for whom she cared deeply. She also worked in home health care for many years.
Marcia is remembered by many in the community as a wonderful nurse who provided excellent care. Marcia loved being a nurse and loved being a mother. Marcia and Tony were blessed with sons Cary Lee and Kacy Don. Marcia later married James Woodruff and welcomed her precious baby boy Cameron Kale. Marcia loved these boys deeply and was always ready to brag on them or share a funny story about them.
Marcia was a fan of the Texas Rangers, OSU Cowboys and OKC Thunder. She loved to cook and enjoyed meals and conversations about so many memories she cherished with family and friends. She had a passion for homeless animals, and always had several dogs living at her home. She rescued, cared for and nursed many back to health for many years.
In more recent years, Marcia always shared a story about her grandchildren Izzy and Gabe. She loved them so much and was so proud of them and their accomplishments. She loved being their Gigi. Marcia is preceded in death by her father Wiley Eugene "Dub" Napier, her mother Odelia Mae Napier, and sons Cary Lee Whittmore and Kacy Don Whittmore.
Marcia is survived by her son Cameron Woodruff and wife Crystal and their children, granddaughter Isabelle Woodruff and grandson Gabriel Remsburg of Paris Texas. Marcia is also survived by sisters Wylene Napier of Hugo, Brenda Dodson of LaQuinta, CA; Debbie Thomas and husband Mark of Edmond, OK, and Stacey Weirick and husband Rod of Lenexa, KS, and half-brother Wiley Joe Napier of Antlers, OK. She is also survived by brothers-in-law Clint Merida and Richard Dodson and many nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at the Church of Christ in Hugo, OK, on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at 2:00 P.M. Your presence and sharing of fond memories of Marcia would be a great blessing to her family.
Serenity Prayer: God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
