Lois Marie (Garren) Hills

Lois Marie (Garren) Hills
January 18, 1943 ~ November 6, 2024

Lois Marie Hills, a beacon of love and courage, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2024, in Sherman, Texas, at the age of 81. Born on January 18, 1943, in Lubbock, Texas, to William Joseph and Verma Marie (Tarpley) Garren, Lois grew up to be a spirited and courageous woman who touched the lives of many with her determination and resilience.

Lois's journey through life was marked by her unwavering strength and grace. Despite being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, she managed her life with courage that inspired all who knew her. She never allowed her condition to define her or stop her from achieving her goals. Lois's professional life was characterized by her successful tenure as a Consultant for Mary Kay Cosmetics, where she empowered other women to feel confident and beautiful. She was an avid participant in Bible study, finding strength and community in her faith. Lois was also known for her exceptional culinary skills, especially her famous turkey and dressing and her cherry cream pie, which were the highlights of many family gatherings. In her earlier years, she loved spending time at the lake with her family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Taking care of her grandchildren was one of Lois's greatest joys. She loved giving them Mary Kay makeovers, playing games, or going to the lake with them. Her home was always filled with laughter, love, and the smell of something delicious in the oven.

She is survived by her loving husband, Joseph Hills of Sherman, Texas; her daughter, Donna Taylor of Sherman, Texas; and her son, Michael Taylor and his wife, Kim, of Bells, Texas. Lois's legacy continues through her cherished grandchildren: Amme Cissell and her husband, Cole, of Nederland, Colorado; Tyler Milton and his wife, Kristen, of Sherman, Texas; Cassidy Shelton and her husband, Clayton, of Savoy, Texas; Justin Taylor of McKinney, Texas; Kaycie Matthews and her husband, Tristan, of Anna, Texas; Jacob Taylor of Savoy, Texas; Jamie Norton and her husband, Ayden, of Van Alstyne, Texas; Caesar Taylor, Benjamin Taylor, and Cori McCullough and her husband Joshua, all of Bells, Texas; Cristina Leonard of Jacksonville, Florida; and Kalene Hills of Richardson, Texas, as well as her nine great-grandchildren. Lois also leaves behind her beloved dog , Taffy.

Lois was preceded in death by her parents, William and Verma Garren; her first husband, Don D. Taylor; and her second husband, James Hamilton, and her brother William Joseph Garren, II.

A Celebration of Life to honor Lois will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 20, 2024, at Legacy Bible Church in Denison, Texas with Pablo Verduguez officiating.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Association of America at engage.mymsaa.org, or to any charity of your choice.

Services are under the direction of Holmes-Coffey-Murray Funeral Home, 121 North 5th Street, Durant, Oklahoma 74701. www.holmescoffeymurray.com
