LaVerne Higginbotham, longtime resident of Ponca City, passed October 13, 2014 at the Ponca City Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was 86 years of age.
LaVerne was born May 25, 1928 in Ponca City, the daughter of Paul Martin Irwin and Grace Edith Collins Irwin. She was a graduate of Ponca City High School. She had worked as a property manager and was a volunteer at the Ponca City Hospital for several years. She was a member of Northeast Baptist Church where she was active in the Ladies 7 Sunday School Class. Her enjoyments included reading, gardening and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her two daughters, Marsha Goldman of Ponca City and Patricia Hardy of Fort Worth, Texas one brother, Bob Irwin and wife Mary, of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma three grandchildren, Nick Goldman of Bartlesville, Sherri Holland and husband Kenneth, of Fort Worth and Brian Hardy of Okmulgee 6 great grandchildren, Leandra and Dustin Barley, of Fort Worth, Cristina Brewis, San Marcus, Texas, Billy Brewis and Larry Holland, both of Fort Worth, Delaney Hardy and Dexter Hardy, of Fort Worth and 1 great great grandchild, Brendon Barley, also of Fort Worth other extended family and friends.
The family plans to have a private memorial service at a later date.
