Ray Denver Hickson passed from this life on May 22, 2024 at the age of 80 in Terlton, Oklahoma.
Ray was born on January 27, 1944, in Terlton, Oklahoma the son of Jesse Don and Lucille Elvira (Jenkins) Hickson. Ray grew up and attended school in Terlton graduating with the Class of 1962. Following high school Ray was united in marriage to Darlene Jones in Sand Springs, Oklahoma on March 2, 1963. They raised their two children Julie Raye and Beth Ann in Terlton. Ray worked at Flynt Steel for over 10 years and then later began working for Pawnee County District 3 as a heavy equipment operator. Ray then accepted employment with the Oklahoma Department of Transportation. Then on July 4, 1987, Ray was united in marriage to Sandy Walker in Terlton, Oklahoma and to that union there are two children Franki and Jessica Raye. In early 2000, Ray retired from ODOT.
Ray and Sandy always loved taking road trips with no destination in mind. Ray would watch Discover Oklahoma to inspire a trip to a hidden gem. Ray enjoyed fishing, playing cards with the family, watching westerns, Price is Right and the Wheel of Fortune. Ray and Bobby loved mowing together with some friendly competition. Ray loved working cattle with his brothers. Dr. Pepper floats, home grown tomatoes along with Bobby and Lane's cooking were his favorite foods. Ray was always ready for any conversation and was famous for his one liner humor. Ray had a love for everyone and was willing to help anyone in need.
Survivors are his wife Sandy of the home; four children Julie and Robbie Buck of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Beth Gibson of Sand Springs, Oklahoma, Franki Hickson of Drumright, Oklahoma, Jessica and Heather Hickson of Terlton, Oklahoma; one brother Bill Hickson and his wife Cathy of Terlton, Oklahoma; sister-in-law Kay Hickson of Terlton, Oklahoma; thirteen grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents Ray was preceded in death by his brothers Jesse Don Hickson, Jr., Bailey Dane Hickson, Robert Dean Hickson and his wife Delois, Roy Dennis Hickson, Roger "Ditto" Hickson and Leo Dan Hickson and all of his beloved in laws.
