Former Enid resident Sidney Hicks died Jan. 2 in Denver. He was 70.
Mr. Hicks graduated Enid High School in 1966. He served in the U.S. Air Force before attending the South Dakota School of Mines. As a mechanical designer, he contributed to a wide variety of projects, including a robotic arm for NASA.
Mr. Hicks spent most of his adult life in the Denver area, while living at times in California, the Philippines and Japan.
He was an ardent admirer of Art Deco and Japanese porcelain antiques.
Mr. Hicks is survived by longtime partner Lisa Shurtleff of Wheat Ridge, Colo.; son Adrien Eugene Hicks of Denver; daughter Amanda Ellen Hicks of Gainesville, Fla.; grandson Vincent Awesome Hicks of Denver; and brother Stanley Hicks of Enid.
