Janet Kay (Beeby) Hicks 63, went to be with her Lord and Savior on January 20, 2025, arriving on heaven’s celestial shore, forever free of the cares of this world.
Janet was born on January 17, 1962, in Marshall, Oklahoma, to Roy Gilbert Beeby, and Patricia Ann (Butterfield) Beeby. Janet’s memory will be lovingly carried forward by her husband Ray, and son Matthew Hicks, both of Marshall, stepson Greg Hicks and his wife Bobbi, along with their children Ryker and Archer, from Crescent. Janet also leaves behind her sister Nina (Beeby) Cowan of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and her brother Jim Beeby of Knoxville, Tennessee, along with many friends in Marshall and other parts of Oklahoma.
Having had schooling at Oklahoma State University and The University of Central Oklahoma in Edmond, Janet emerged with a nursing degree and was the nanny for the son of two lawyers in Edmond for a few years. Just last year this boy looked up Janet and communicated with Janet how much he appreciated Janet’s input into his life and proudly told Janet that he is now a lawyer too, like his parents.
Thereafter, heading back to Marshall, Oklahoma, Janet was the Town Clerk for the Town of Marshall for over 30 years. She was successful in applying for grants and obtaining funding for town infrastructure projects in addition to her regular duties.
Janet loved her Red Angus cattle. Carrying on the tradition of her father, Roy Beeby, Janet continued to raise Red Angus cattle with the help of Ray and Matthew. A few years ago, she was sorry to have to sell the cattle due to drought.
Janet was a devout Christian to the very end. She was a mighty prayer warrior. When Janet prayed, you knew God was listening, as her prayers were filled with scripture from the Bible
Janet was a cherished friend and relative to all who knew her. She loved her family, friends, and health care providers. Janet had a great attitude even with the challenges of her footinfections. She didn’t let them stop her. When her health care providers learned of Janet’s death, they were in tears, saying that they loved Janet so much as well as Matthew who took her to the appointments. In fact, Janet and Matthew were on their way to a medical appointment in Enid when the car crash occurred.
Janet will be forever remembered as such a sweet and giving person. Though she has left this earth, she will never leave our hearts. As she entered the gates of heaven God surely said: “Well done good and faithful servant!”
