Ingrid Hilda Johanna (Franzkowiak) Hewett

Ingrid Hilda Johanna (Franzkowiak) Hewett
Sunday, July 1st, 1928 ~ Friday, September 11th, 2020

Ingrid Hilda Johanna Franzkowiak Hewett was born on July 1, 1928 in Berlin, Germany to Erwin and Elsa (Wolf) Franzkowiak. She was an only child, growing up in turbulent times during WWII. Her life as a child remains fairly protected from family today.

In her first brief marriage, Ingrid had a daughter Shirley Ann Sweatt Courtney. They were living in Berlin in 1960 when she was introduced to the love of her life, Don Que Hewett. Don was an optometrist in the Army, and President of the officer’s square dance club. They were introduced by mutual friends, and danced until the wee hours of the morning!

When Don returned to Oklahoma City in 1962 to begin his optometry practice, Ingrid quickly followed. They had two children, Deanna Lynn Hewett Woodard and Jeffrey Don Hewett, and lived in south OKC for their entire marriage.

Ingrid came alive in summer when she could spend time at Tenkiller lake. For forty years the family lake house provided a place for her family to grow and connect, which was her (and our) greatest joy. Ingrid didn’t follow every American custom and her values were uniquely her own, making her the most attractive and magnetic person in the room. She was an extremely reliable friend, mother, and partner because of her unwavering standards. Ingrid believed in herself and demanded the same of those close to her. Because of Ingrid, we are all stronger people. She will be missed

She and Don attended St Lukes UMC Okc for over 25 years and prior to that, at St Luke’s Asbury UMC (1963-1995). They delivered Mobile Meals for over 11 years with their last route in April 2019.

Ingrid was preceded in her death by her parents, her spouse, Don, of 55 years and her daughter Shirley. She is survived by her daughter Deanna Woodard, and her husband Daryl Woodard of Tulsa: son Jeffrey Hewett and wife Kaye Linn of Broken Arrow. And grandchildren Tanner Courtney (Tulsa) Casey Courtney (Brooklyn, NY), Grant Elias, (OKC), Hailey Hewett, Parker Hewett and Carson Hewett of (Broken Arrow)

Memorials may be made to charities that were special to Ingrid the St. Luke’s Mobile Meals via stlukesokc.org/give, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital via www.stjude.org
