Memorial Service for Wayne Leslie Hess, 85, Fairview, Oklahoma, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022, at the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Levi Bratton officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Memorial Service for Wayne Leslie Hess, 85, of Fairview, Oklahoma, will be at 10 a.m., Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene. Pastor Levi Bratton officiating. Arrangements are by Fairview Funeral Home, Inc.

Wayne was born March 9, 1937 in Elk City, Oklahoma to Leslie L and Jewell (McCarther) Hess and passed from this life to the next on April 19, 2022, in Enid Oklahoma. Wayne grew up and attended school in Cheyenne, until his family moved to Cordell, Oklahoma where he graduated high school in 1955. After graduating he joined the Army Reserves, and was active for 6 months.

He then enrolled in college and attended Southwest Oklahoma State University and graduated in 1962 with a BS in Biology. On May 26th, 1962 Wayne married Wynona Parr in Clinton, Oklahoma. For the next 4 years they moved around as he taught Biology in different High Schools.

In 1966, Wayne went to work for the USDA as a meat inspector and they moved to Guymon, Oklahoma. He worked for the USDA for 20 years, retiring in 1986. Wayne and Wynona then moved to Fairview, Oklahoma. After moving to Fairview, Wayne did many small jobs around Fairview and the community to keep himself busy. But most of all he loved spending time with family and fishing. He spent many hours fishing at Canton Lake.

Wayne is survived by his wife Wynona of the home, his son Leslie Hess and his wife Tina of Fairview, his daughters Jennifer Smith of Fairview and Lorinda Stelzer of Enid, seven grandchildren, Tyvan Hegwood, Theran Hegwood and wife Gene’, Jannie Watson and husband Skylar, Trae Stelzer and wife Beckey, Charlie Hess, Shasta Williams and husband Aaron, and six great grandchildren, Hugh Hegwood, Vance Hegwood, Journey Watson, Rowan Williams, Kenneth Stelzer, Conrad Stelzer, one sister Erline Pennington, and half-sister Lisa Keepers.

Wayne is proceeded in death by his parents; one sister Merlene Byrge

In Lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions go to the Cedar Springs Church of the Nazarene, with the Fairview Funeral Home, Inc acting as custodians of the funds.
