Rita E. (Parra) Hess

Rita E. (Parra) Hess
April 14, 1965 ~ February 05, 2011

The fourth of five children born to Henry and Manuela Parra, Rita lived most of her life in Carson, CA.

Rita enjoyed crafts. She would work on needle point, embroidery, cross stitch, and knitting projects as gifts for family and friends. She was fond of collecting things and wanted often to stop at second hand shops to see what new in antiques.

Another passion of Ritas was cooking. She was a dedicated food channel viewer and emulated the styles of Rachel Ray and Paula Deen.

Having so many siblings, Rita found helping raise kids an easy task. She felt like a second mom to her nieces and nephews, including teaching them about Jesus Christ.

Rita joined the choir at Carson Bible Church in California. She would get rehearsal c.d.s and joyously sing to the Lord learning her part.

Rita tried her best to stay in touch with life long friends even when they would have to move away. She was fond of her in-laws and always talked about wanting to emulate a lifestyle similar to theirs. She became friends with many of the staff at Mercy Health Center during her two month stay there.

For twenty years she loved her husband, first putting up with his goofy jokes and odd humor early in their relationship and later becoming a finder for all things he would lose as their marriage matured. She was Gods perfect helpmate in Marks life.

Rita is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Manuel.

She is survived by two brothers David and Joe Parra, sister Lupe, husband Mark, son Erick, two daughters Cassandra and Felicia, many nieces, nephews, and grand-nieces and nephews, and grand-dog George.

Time passes no more for our beloved sister/mother/wife and she waits to meet us some glad morning.

Memorials services will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, February 10, 2011 at First Southern Baptist Church with Pastor David Nolen officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith-Gallo Funeral Home, Guthrie.
