A Memorial service for Mary Anderson Hess-Hartzell, age 82, will be held at a later date in Arkansas. Arrangements are by Anderson – Burris Funeral Home.
She was born to Johnny and Cora Anderson on August 30, 1917 in Newnata, Arkansas and died Saturday, October 16, 1999 at St. Mary's Mercy Hospital in Enid.
She grew up and attended schools in Newnata, Arkansas. She moved to Ponca City in 1945, and was employed with several dry cleaners there. She also attended the Church of Christ. Two years ago, she moved to Enid and was a resident of Greenbrier Nursing Home at the time of her death.
She is survived by one son, Jim Hess and his wife Lucy of Enid; six grandchildren, Brandy Hess – Akin of Enid, Jamie Collins of Benton, Kansas, Debra Gorden and JoLynn Kirkbride, both of Irving, Texas, Kim Franklin of Yukon, and John Voelzke of Wichita, Kansas; 12 great – grandchildren; one sister Gladys Broyles of Lowell, Arkansas; one uncle Clarence Anderson of Timbo, Arkansas; and one niece Ima Lee Riggins of Lowell, Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Johnny and Cora Anderson; her husband, Victor Hartzell; one son, John A. Hess; one daughter Ima Joe Briscoe; and one brother Julius Anderson.
