Gayle Joan Herring, age 80 and former resident of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, passed away in Colorado Springs, Colorado on Thursday, October 20, 2016.

Gayle was born on March 7, 1936 in Wink, Texas. She was the daughter of William Allen Williams and Clarice (Porter) Williams. In 1942, the family was transferred to Bartlesville by Phillips Petroleum Company.

Gayle attended Bartlesville elementary and jr. high school and she graduated from Bartlesville College High School. She continued her education by attending Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor's degree. At OSU, she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma.

While in Bartlesville, Gayle attended the Presbyterian Church. She was also a ballet student of the well-known dancer, Gretchen Wyler. Under Ms. Wyler's direction, Gayle and her sister, Dixie, performed in the Dance of the Sugarplum Fairy from Tchaikovsky's "The Nutcracker." This production was performed at the original Bartlesville Civic Center now the site of the Bartlesville Library.

On November 17, 1989, Gayle and Kenneth F. Herring were united in marriage in Dallas, Texas. The lived in Farmer's Branch, Texas for approximately 26 years before moving to Colorado Springs, Colorado in January 2016.

Gayle was employed with Northern Telecom in Dallas, Texas as an Executive Assistant for approximately 10 years. She was an exceptional wife and homemaker and will be missed by all who knew her.

Survivors include her husband, Kenneth, of the family home in Colorado; stepson, Steven Herring and his wife, Jackie, also of Colorado Springs; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Dixie Williams in 2013.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 27, from 9:00 AM-8:00 PM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home, 710 S. Dewey Ave.

Services for Gayle will be held on Friday, October 28, at 11:00 AM in the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home chapel.

Arrangements were entrusted to the Arnold Moore & Neekamp Funeral Home.
